Affordable housing is a crisis that affects people in nearly every state in cities big and small. But there a people are organizations working to solve the crisis creatively, whether it be through legislation, volunteering or other unique ideas.

These are real people sharing their experiences.


Passionate young individuals are pushing businesses and students to solve the affordable housing crisis. 

One organization is driving experts to figure out creative solutions to many areas of the crisis, including finance, construction and design, police, COVID-19 and equality.


How do we go about making changes to things like poverty and hunger, climate change an inequality? None of them are any small feat.

We are seeking out the big problems and looking for the way people all over the country are attempting to find a solution.


Have you heard of a community land trust? It’s essentially an organization that provides long-term community assets and shared equity homeownership opportunities for families and communities.

No matter where you live in the U.S., it’s likely there are people struggling with the issue of affordable housing. Two cities highlighted above are using the CLT system to try to get to the heart of the issue.


When builders tried to construct a 28-story building on a city lake, two “little old ladies” took it into their own hands to combat the development … by raising more than $3 million in three months through a land trust.


In response to a terrible housing affordability crisis — as many residents are priced out of their community — an organization is actively helping the community to band together and fight for more housing in the area.


There isn’t a one-size-fits-all to the affordable housing crisis, but there are groups and individuals who are working together to make housing more attainable for everyone.
